Hey the Texas bill doesn't mean same-sex couples can't get married. It just means that religious (not government) officials have the right to refuse to marry them in a religious ceremony, which is already a thing across the country

Didn’t SCOTUS say it was no longer legal to do that? 
Because that is what I gathered from all of this. That you couldn’t refuse to marry somebody. 

The government has to recognize the union and give them the marriage benefits, but the churches don’t have to officiate the ceremony if they don’t want to.

I can imagine some same-sex couples are religious, and would like to get married on equal grounds as everybody else. It’s horrible that something like religion, can take that away from people. 

I’d hope that not all of the churches are homophobic, but it’s Texas
